Privacy policy.
How we handle personal information, under the Privacy Act 2020.

Who we are.
On Ropes Limited, a building maintenance contractor based in Auckland and working New Zealand wide. This website is onropes.co.nz.
We are an agency under the Privacy Act 2020. This policy sets out what we do with personal information, and it follows the thirteen information privacy principles in that Act.
What this website collects.
Nothing, on its own. This site is a set of static pages. It sets no cookies, stores nothing in your browser, and runs no analytics, advertising or tracking of any kind. We do not build a profile of you, and we do not know which pages you looked at.
The quote and contact forms are the exception. When you press send, what you typed is posted to this site and passed straight to our email provider, which delivers it to our inbox. Nothing is stored on the website itself, and we do not keep a database of enquiries here.
Each form carries a hidden field that people never see and a check on how long the form took to fill in. Both exist to catch automated spam, and neither records anything about you.
Our host keeps standard web server logs, which include IP addresses, for security and to keep the site running. We do not use those logs to identify visitors.
When a form is sent, the address it came from is held briefly in memory to limit how many enquiries can be sent at once. It is not written down or kept.
When you contact us.
If you email, ring, or send a quote request, we hold what you choose to give us. Usually that is your name, how to reach you, the building address, and what you are seeing.
We use it to answer you, quote the work, carry it out, and keep the records a job produces: safety documentation, photographs of the work, product and batch records, invoices, and certificates.
We do not use your details for marketing, and we do not sell them.
How long we keep it.
Enquiries that do not become jobs are kept only while they are useful, then deleted.
Job records are kept for as long as we may need them, which for building work means for the length of any warranty and any period in which a claim could be made, and for as long as tax and company law requires.
Your rights.
Under the Privacy Act 2020 you can ask us for the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is wrong. We will tell you what we hold, or explain why we cannot, within 20 working days.
You can also ask us to delete information, and we will unless we are required to keep it.
If a privacy breach happens that is likely to cause you serious harm, the Privacy Act 2020 requires us to tell you and the Privacy Commissioner as soon as practicable, and we will.
Asking us about privacy.
Email info@onropes.co.nz or ring 0800 667 677 and ask for the privacy officer.
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled it, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
